Assignment #2 – Determining HRIS Needs Tammy Cochran HRM 520 Dr. DeLeon November 6, 2012 Abstract Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) have become one of the most important tools for many businesses. The purposes of HR planning are to enable organizations to anticipate their future HRM needs and to identify practices that will help them to meet those needs. HR planning may be done on a short- or long-term (three or more years) basis. Its aim is to ensure that people will be available with the appropriate characteristics and skills when and where the organization needs them. Second, another opportunity is that the interviewer should develops a relationship with the participants, to ensure that there is no misunderstanding when it comes to what the requirements and demands are for participating in the research. Although some participants might require some form of payment, the researcher can plan in advance not to select such participants unless the organizations have a budget plan set aside for that purpose. Last, the amount of information gathered from the interviews and focus groups, there should be some forms of media device in place to record the meetings, so that the data collected can be accurate. Also, it is a good idea to record the meetings to check the information later since there is a possibility that the interviewer might miss some facts that can suggest key information about the project. Information gathering can be boring but the technique that the organization uses to obtain its information should correspond with its needs and future strategies.
